About the author
Heléne Venter
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, in the late sixties, Heléne spent over 38 years living in the remote Namaqualand region. She developed a profound appreciation for its alluring floral vistas. Despite the seemingly desolate landscape, she was inspired by the beautiful seasonal transformation and captured its enchanting essence through her camera lens.
In 2010, she relocated to Somerset West, expanding her photographic journey to include the West Coast, Nieuwoudtville and the floral landscapes of the Hantam Karoo. With a diverse career spanning several decades in fashion design and photography, Heléne has a fine artistic eye and is motivated by a love of travel and exploration.
Her work is infused with a haunting, evocative quality that invites viewers into a natural and beautifully moving world. In addition to landscapes, her portfolio includes underwater, aerial, studio, portrait, fine art, macro and fashion photography.
Her devotion to her craft has created a unique expression of vibrant artistry that celebrates the hidden richness and beauty waiting to be discovered in even the most unexpected places.
I've let Heinrich know the facts in the book are not accurate regarding Nieuwoudtville's flower season

An Autobiography that Reads Like an Adventure Novel
I am about halfway finished with Greg du Toit's Wilderness Dreams, and I can't seem to get any work done for wanting to stop and read this book. It is so interesting, compelling, and funny! This man has had a lifetime of experience in the African bush, beginning when he was just a lad, and his description of his experiences working as a gofer in a walking safari trails camp are delightful, hysterical, and terrifying, all in one. I would recommend this book to any armchair adventurer who likes a fast-paced story as well as to folks who know Greg's work and can appreciate what it has taken to get him where he is today, a superb and acclaimed wildlife photographer.
Most dissapointing not at all what I expected. Sort of a coffe book lovely picturestable. Surely a commentry regarding the camping spots and or places to stay would have completed this book.
